Day 99
Saturday, July 5, 2014
The rest of the 4th was very nice. Because I had some time back expressed a
desire for fried chicken, DIL & DS made that for supper .. along with pasta
salad, toss salad, and snowflake rolls.
Perfect. J Also later we had cheesecake. As it got dark, some people down the street
started fireworks. These were not just
little pop-pop-pop things or sparklers, but the “real thing” right in the
street. There were others going off
around the neighborhood as well. A bit
after 9:00 we rode into town to see the ones the town set off. We missed the beginning, but found a good
parking space to see most of them. When
we got back home, the neighbors hadn’t quite done .. so I got to see 3
different bouts of them! I just love
fireworks .. and more so now because I can actually see them!! (all except for some of the smaller ones
anyway).
Saturday morning DIL and I watched more movies. Or maybe that was Friday morning. We watched at least 5, maybe 6 movies, so I
don’t remember which on which day. I
enjoyed all the movies; but had seen “Breakfast Club” so listened to a book
during that one.
DIL is taking care of a neighbor’s pets (same one that took
care of their dogs so they didn’t have to board them last weekend). They have 2 big dogs and 3 cats. I walked over with her (and DGD16) to see
(sort of) the pets. In case anyone didn’t
know it, I do love cats even though I have to shrink my “family” down to just
Maggie).
DS/DIL had an appointment with an insurance person. After that, I gathered up my stuff and we
headed back here. DGS13 elected to stay
home. DGD16 drove. DS sat in back with me, and used the ride
time to work on reinstalling CDs into my itunes (that had all mysteriously
disappeared). It was after 7:00 when we
got here. DIL went through a few saved
emails for me (to determine if they were important .. mostly they were not!)
They headed home a little before 9:00, and called close to
11:00 to let me know they were home. (one stop on the way). Not long after that, TGF came by. She had asked to borrow a pair of dress
slacks from DS for her oldest son, who had to go to a funeral. She had to pick those up, and also brought me
$20 where one of her friends had bought something out of a box of old glass I
had (that had accidently ended up at her house).
It was of course late before I got to sleep (although as
usual I dozed through the 10:00 show I tried to watch). I woke once a little before 5:00, but went
back to sleep. I got up about 6:15, but
might have slept later if Butter hadn’t decided that was a good time to
head-but me in the face!
The downside of waking too early is that is when I start
getting discouraged too easily. Maybe it’s
left over tired or something. I think I
should feel rested and ready to get up and get some things done during the
coolest part of the day. But I also seem
to always wake up expecting to see everything clearly .. and of course that
never happens.
Well, I now have a supply of boxes to get started with,
including some very nice “bankers boxes” which will be used for things to go
into storage. I expect my focus will be
the kitchen for awhile. There is the
most there to sort out. Per a great idea
from my SIL, I will take 2 place settings of each of the sets of dishes I like,
and still be able to sell sets of 4 or 6.
I’ll still have 2 sets of 4 place settings of my “decorative” china
which is perfectly good if we have guests and want matching dishes.
After the kitchen (or more likely alternating wwith it) I
have to tackle my computer room. I’m
clearly not going to do any more sewing before I move, so all of that stuff can
be packed up. But that means I have to
sort it too. I have a friend, a SIL, and
my DIL has a friend, all of whom would like to have some of my fabric
stash. I have to go through all of it
(again) and decide what to keep and what to share.
Well, like it or not I’m up.
I might as well go on and shower, get laundry started, and see what I
can accomplish.
