Day 95

Day 95

Tuesday, July 2, 2014

It has been a very busy few days.  I had a lovely (relaxing!) visit with my brother and sister in law.  He is extraordinarily generous in every way, and I can never thank him enough.
My son, daughter in  law, and grandson got here around mid to  late morning Sunday.  We took only a short time to get everything loaded into the car (and I am totally amazed at how much they actually got into it!).  It was a much shorter drive to my girlfriend’s house than I anticipated.  We stopped at a sub shop for some lunch, then went to visit.  I had the most delightful visit!!    Once I move I will live much closer, and will remain hopeful that it won’t be hard to make arrangements for more visits.
We left there in late afternoon, and went on to DB/SIL’s house.  They served us a very nice dinner (preceeded by an even nicer drink), and we just visited during the evening.
On Monday DIL had a doctor appointment in the afternoon.  The morning was spent just being lazy and visiting (and enjoying spoiling the puppy).  When DS and DIL went to her appointment, DB and SIL took me (and DGS) out a bit.  They got me some boxes (YAY), and drove around to show DGS some of the sights.  WS is a lovely town (OK, parts of it anyway), with some very interesting buildings and a lot of history.   We even went through Old Salem (though I have to admit, DGS wasn’t very impressed! LOL).  He was very impressed with the Arts College (not sure the exact “correct” name).
We met back up with DS and DIL in downtown, and got pizza. We had originally thought to go to a free jazz performance; but DB/SIL decided puppy had been left alone long enough.  DGS and I were tired so went on back with them.  DB and DIL returned later.
OnTuesday SIL had to go in for jury duty.  DB took the rest of us out to breakfast at a favorite place.  When we got back, we relaxed a bit but had to load up the car to head back home.  It was probably early afternoon.
Sometimes the drive doesn’t take as long as I think it will.  And I’m sure it had nothing to do with DS’s “lead feet”.  Good thing for me sometimes that I can’t see well!!
We went through Raleigh because he couldn’t place the apartments in his memory.  Funny . they’ve been there forever (not one of the new buildings going up everywhere).  I took some paperwork by the office  Then we went to explore a Fresh Mart a bit (lovely to go in there just to smell the coffee!!).
We got back here in late afternoon.  It was a little depressing to discover that TGF had not come by as she had said she would .. never heard a word from her all weekend.  But when I emailed her, she replied that she was “over” her sinus issues .. so I presume she was too sick to come over and retrieve or finish her laundry.
DS had to go back home (to go to work today).  He went on and took several pieces of furniture with him while he had the truck and it wasn’t rainy.  DGS helped him load up, but he unloaded by himself when he got home.  Talk about stubborn!!  (there are neighbors that could have helped).  DIL and DGS and I just relaxed and watched TV for the evening.
The original plan was to go back to NB on Thursday.  However, we may have to change our plans and head back this afternoon.  Not as much will get done here as we hoped, but some important errands (like eye drop refills and rent) will get taken care of first.  There’s a storm brewing in the Atlantic that has a very good chance of making tomorrow’s weather a bit rough .. certainly nothing DIL wants to drive in!
When we got home and I checked messages, there were several for a change.  A cousin called (not to self: call her before we leave), and the people who bought the table called.  I was able to call them back, and all is well.  They will get it before August .. meantime it is most certainly not in the way!
I also got an email that gave me enormous relief.  I’ve been hoping to find a good home for Butter, because he loves to be outside all day but inside at night (he’s a cuddler).  I posted about him on FB, and the girl I got him from originally answered.  She asked if I’d consider giving hm back to them .. well, YES!!  I would know he’d be loved and well taken care of.

I woke up briefly during the night, but “wide awake and up”.  I managed to stay semi awake until the news came on .. and then managed to not hear it!  I didn’t get up until 6:00, which I consider pretty good.  I got a load of laundry started, and soon will get in the shower.  I’m pretty sure we’ll try to get as much done this morning as possible, then head on out.  Poor cats get left alone again.   TGF *might* come by tomorrow to check on them.  Best I can do is leave them as well provided for as I can manage.
I will probably take the computer this time, so DGS can load some CDx onto my itunes (that for some unknown reason got “scrubbed”).  I doubt I will do much updating or emailing.

I’m still stressing over the whole move thing.  I keep being told to just relax, it will all be OK.  But until everything is settled …with moving, with this house, just all of it .. I can’t help but stress and worry.  It’s in my nature.
