Day 226
Sunday January 5 2014
Physical:
Sunday morning DH electred to “sleep in”, which I never
object to these days! But, just as I was
getting him up at noonish, TGF and the boys got here. Well, he had to “sit” first, so they had to
just wait. Once I finally got him
dressed and ready to go to his chair, DSS was here and TGF was ready to
go. With only a quick stop to see why my
printer didn’t work (not sure, something about ink not in right), we headed out
for our errands.
Since we were late getting back, DH ended up having a really
long day; but he seemed to do well.
Apparently no one thought to give him anything to eat (he did have some
of his high protein snacks though), and when we got home he was quite happy to
eat a serving of lasagna and a lemon donut!
Once I got the dialysis set up and got him to bed, he settled
quickly .. only one spell of wakefulness around 4:30. He went back to sleep ; and has been doing
that all morning (wake, sleep).
People:
DSS spent the afternoon with DH. The boys were here, but mainly in the den
with their new tablets and cartoons on TV.
I don’t think DSS does a single thing but sit in the room with DH
watching TV.
TGF and I went by the pharmacy, then a town over to visit her
sister. Then we got groceries and came
back.
Emotions:
Sometimes I just get too tired to have any “emotions” ..
other times I get so tired that I get totally weepy.
One lovely bright spot for me was when we went to visit the
sister. It turned out I got the chance
to hold each of the new babies! The one
little boy weighs less than 5 pounds, and they’re less than 2 days old. I’ve never before held a baby so tiny! The other one is only 6 pounds something, so
both very small .. but apparently OK to go home. They’re only about a month premature and in
very good health I believe.
Once we got home the evening was very rushed .. unpack
groceries, get DH the pills he still hadn’t had, get dialysis set up. TGF decided to go on and take the lasagna
home so they could be getting ready for the school and work day as well as
eating. And thank goodness, 2 weeks of
trash are gone! Too bad I can’t seem to
get rid of all that cardboard.
When we went to the pharmacy, the only thing to pick u was my
eye drops .. and I don’t believe they gave me the right ones. I mean, they are mine, but the wrong
combination. Fortunately, I have enough
of the “missing” drops to get through this week. It’s very unusual for the pharmacy to do
that; but it was a new guy and I couldn’t seem to get him to understand what I
needed. They should have been on
auto-refill anyway, so I don’t know what the problem was.
Because of all the rush, once again mail did not get
sorted. I will be talking to my son more
tomorrow about him taking over doing that. Now would be a good time to have a
fax machine! But, I don’t and I don’t
know if they do. I’m told hospice
volunteers aren’t supposed to help with things like mail; but maybe my SIL will
come again this week (she said she would; and since there’s something for her
to do for her brother, maybe she will), so she can help with what’s here. Or I may send it home with DS tomorrow. At least I am able to toss the “junk” and
catalogs!
It is getting colder by the minute outside, as well as being
drizly and windy. I can feel the chill
beginning to seep into the house. The
supply delivery has already come, so just waiting for the CAN. Then *maybe* I can sneak in an afternoon nap!
