Day 10

One NEW Day At A Time
Day 10
Monday, September 1, 2014

It’s Monday.  It’s September 1st.  Everything starts “new” today.  Well, sort of anyway.

Yesterday was not as completely as productive as I would have liked; but it was still a good day.  It was nice, in a way, that DS and family were all able to stay here and seemed to sleep fairly comfortably (excep the kids said they were too cold.  I had brought out all the covers I could, but the tote with extra blankets is still in storage).  After getting up, DS went out for KK donuts!  What a lovely treat.  I continued to sort through boxes and figure what to do with things.  And, as seems to be “usual” now, various items go back into a box to go to storage.
DS took me to the new pharmacy to get my eye drops.  Then we went over to the (too expensive) market for some lunch things.  After lunch, they started gathering things together.   They took all the flattened boxes with them.  That was sort of funny.  On the landing half way down the stairs (3 sets of half flights .. they went down just the first) there’s a big open window with no screen.  So, DS dragged  stacks of boxes down the half flight, and threw them out the window!  DGD15 stood out of the way but on the sidewalk to make sure no one got clobbered.  And DGS13 quickly picked up stacks and carried them to the truck.  The whole process .. more than 30 boxes .. took only minutes!

After they left I played hookey awhile,  then got back to work.  I cleaned and did some organizing in the living room, and continued working on boxes.  I am slowing down, as a lot of them now are things that go in places that are occupied by other boxes!  I don’t even know how much is left in storage that are earmarked to come here … which will also mean there wil be some (hopefully not much) to be returned to storage.  On Friday I had a large pile of returns.  Today so far I only have one partial box.  Progress!
DIL called when they got home, pretty late. Along the way they actually found one missing lampshade, which surprised me a lot!  They got to the house and took the washeer, dryer, and a cedar trunk.  So things are being moved out.  I finally gave in … out of desperation … and let a friend of TGFs buy the freezer with payments.  At least it will get out of the house.  Things are (very very slowly) falling into place.  The one huge hurdle I don’t know what to do about is the amount of junky stuff outside.  I hope to retrieve some of the big plants to put outside the entrances here .. but the way things are lining up, I may not get to do that.  And there’s a lot of stuff that mostly just needs to go to the dump; and I have not been able to have that done yet.  I simply don’t hae the $$ to pay someone to haul it off.    I will call the ReStore driver to make arrangements for him to go over on  next Tuesday to get anything that’s left there.  And my housekeeper friend will be going on that Thursday to clean the empty house.
The whole process makes me nervous, because I have no control over people who say they will do something and then don’t bother … and leave me to pay the price.  I never totally wanted to have to leave; but since it was the only practical thing to do, I want it to hurry up and be done!

I don’t know what time DN will be back home today.  I need to go on and shower and be ready for whatever this day brings.
