Day 72

Day 72

Sunday, June 8, 2014

It seems a lot of mornings I come across here as very grumpy and unhappy.  Perhaps the reason is that I don’t wake up feeling “good”.  I’m not aware of not sleeping well; but I wake up feeling achy and draggy.  Some days, like this morning but not always, I wake up faintly headachy. All of that tends to put me in a bit of a negative mood in the morning.
So, my goal is to (1) try to figure out why I’m not sleeping well, and (2) recognize morning grumps and not give in to them.  Not saying how well I’ll succeed .. and sometimes I just plain have bad days.  But I’ll try.

Sunday was a surprisingly good day.  It didn’t start well.  I didn’t want to get started on any project since I didn’t know what would happen later.  But around 11:30 (much earlier than I would have thought) DSS and TGF showed up … with truck and trailer; and no kids!   It turned into a very productive afternoon.
First of all, they took all the bags of VHSs I had stuck out on the porch, to take to the dump.  The cats had torn into the bags, but evidently quickly realized there was no food! LOL!   But the temptation is now removed, at least until more bags are filled.
Next TGF started pulling all the old cameras out of the cabinet they’ve been in for many many years.  She identified what type each was, and as much info as she could.  The plan is to search on line and see what if any value any of them have.   Then they will probably be listed on Craigs List.  I’d much rather list them as a collection; but they’re determined to list by camera … hugely more complicated.  So of course they’ll handle it.  Naturally … and not much chance I’ll ever see a penny out of that.  But since I don’t expect them to be actually worth much, I’m not going to worry about it.  My instructions are that what isn’t sold is to be donated to the local museum .. and if they don’t want them, they’re trash.
After that project for some reason DSS brought the baby kittens inside.  It’s sort of funny how they are fascinating him.  They both played with the babies a bit, let them roam and explore.  This is all part of the project to get them socialized enough to make very good pets (sadly, not for us).  At one point they started “crying” a little, so I got some food.  I don’t have any kitten chow, but they’ve been eating regular cat food; just not much.  They ate maybe a few bites ..and went to sleep!  We put them in a chair so they wouldn’t get stepped on, and they went back to work.  TGF went through the pile of DVDs and picked some.  DSS started going through the stuff on the hall shelves .. especially books.  He picked out loads of books to keep (good because it sort of looks like he’s the only one who wants most of them).  He was looking through one pile of random stuff, and I was explaining it came out of a cabinet in the guest room, and there’s another one I hadn’t even looked in yet.  They wanted to see what was in it … and ended up emptiying that cabinet!  Even though that part doesn’t show, that’s big progress for me!
It was beginning to look “heavy”, so they decided they better hurry up and get the big stuff they brought the trailer for, and get home and unloaded before it rained, if it did (which it did not.  We really need rain badly).  They took the dresser, the small rolling cart, the stupid punching bag (that I never understood why was here anyway), and the rockng ram (to be put in the attic for when DGS15 has kids). Oh, and they took the pile of fishing rods.  They only big thing left in the room to go is a chair for DS .. he has to come 2 hours to get it and not until he can be sure he can come and get it home again without rain.  So, it waits.

Mid afternoon or so I got several emails from DIL, and one from DSis.   Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances, the visit to my niece has to be postponed.  It’s disappointing but just can’t be helped .. so I choose to look at it as still something to look forward to.  Meantime, hopefully DIL will still try to get some “background” information.
DIL is trying very hard to draw everyone into a pattern of having someone come out here I think every week (not really clear on the frequency) to help me with stuff and just make sure I have someone with me.  It’s is above and beyond sweet and thoughtful of her.  I think a few of the people she wants to draw in are not so willing to commit;  but that’s OK too.   She  created a shared Google calendar .. I love the idea.  Too bad it’s too hard for me to actually read it!  But I’m sure she will keep me advised as to anything going on any particular day.
Also she and the kids are coming here on Thursday.  She will help me get started on the cleaning my “office closet” project.  It’s a hundred times better than it used to be … but could be several hundred times better than it is.  I especially need help with making sure I’ve got important papers together, and not keeping a bunch of stuff no one needs.  I have a file drawer, a 2 drawer file cabinet, and a file box (made to hold hanging folders).  No one needs all that! LOL!  What I’d most prefer is to get all the important papers consolidated into the free standing box, and let DIL/DS take charge of that (keep in their home).  TGF can have the 2 drawer file cabinet along with the big one (she will have 6 classes, so that will give her a separate file drawer for each class.  As unreliable as she is most of the time, it’s odd how organized she is in terms of her teaching.  But anything I don’t actually need, I’m fine with giving to someone who wants it).
Anyway, on Friday I will go back to NB with DIL.  On Saturday I will ride with them to the OBx for out “goodbye ceremony”.  I will ride back home with DSS & TGF.   And yes, thee is a sneaky ulterior motive …. I won’t get stuck paying for gas but one way!

The rest of the evening was remarkably boring.  There was nothing I wanted to watch on TV; and I didn’t want to start a book because I was afraid I’d doze off anyway.  Which I did … missed big chunks of the programs I did turn on! LOL!

There is nothing going on today (Monday) as far as I know.  My “plan” is to finish that last shelf of tapes.  Since the cameras are now all over the den, I need to put them back in the cabinet.  They won’t be in any kind of order .. but they just need to *be* somewhere, and I don’t have any boxes to put them in.
I don’t know how long SIL’s house guest is staying,  so I guess there’s an “outside possibility” that she could come over.  I have a shelf full of craft books that I know she wants to look at (and hopefully take a lot of them with her).  She’s expressed an interest in quilting books, but I think I’ve already given away most if not all of what I had.  I am going to give her more fabric and batting.  Maybe if I go on and put that in a bag, I can free up 2 tubs I can use … one as a temp home for the cameras, and one to use to start packing  ….  Though that might be a bit silly.  It will be months at the very least before any chance of a move  I need to concentrate on urging first.   But it won’t hurt to have empty boe on standby.

I guess if I want to accomplish stuff today, I best go get this day started.  I’ll get in the shower, then get the cats fed, and while they’re eating I’ll come back and get to the newsletter  Maybe I’ll have e verything done before too late in the day, get the last of the tapes sorted … and tackle the plant stand project that I really want to do! Day 71

Day 71

Saturday, June 7, 2014

This was a little bit of a strange day.  I did talk to a friend briefly; and emailed with my BFF and my DIL.  Otherwise, quiet.  And it occurred to me to add one more item to my “pro” list … the ability (not quite the right word but I can’t think of another right now) to just step outside and walk somewhere .. actually have somewhere to walk to, and see people (preferable people who speak the same language I do),  even if it’s just to say “good morning” or “good eening”.  I think I would not feel so trapped, and so dependent on people who just don’t have time to be bothered.
I know lately I’ve been on a rant against TGF .. but I’m really upset with the whole situation.   She came across as a bit annoyed (and I have witnesses who I think will back up my impression) at having to stop in the middle of *her* plans to pick up her laundry that she’d forgotten; and to grab a bag of trash she’d forgotten; and she seemed to be mostly unconcerned about the cat’s “accidents”.  The next day I wrote to ask if she knew where my pot holders were, and the following day she came by and brought me some of them (had been left in the car when she carried home food she had cooked while here).  I know I’ll never see the rest of them;  she totally does not like to return things.  I don’t think it’s that she wants to keep things she “borrows” .. she just doesn’t want to be bothered with the actual remembering and returning.  And, most of the things she has (except my little folding hand truck, which I’m sure they really want to keep) are fairly small and insignificant items, it would only make me look selfish and petty to continue to demand them back. Maybe I can just give her all of the pot holders and blow about $4 at the dollar store for some nice new ones … IF and when I move that is.
Anyway, I’ve not heard a single word since.  No phone call, no email.  She’s not working now, and neither she nor DSS care in the least how I’m doing or if I need anything.  They’re using MY car, I shouldn’t have to beg them to take trash to the dump or anything.  Years ago I asked DSS for the little trailer so I could clean up a lot of the junk that has been dumped in the yard.  The trailer belonged to DH.  DSS always had excuses, and would never bring it … and back then I could drive, and had help.  Now I have neither, and he *said* a few months back he was going to bring the trailer and haul off the junk.  And it still hasn’t happened.
I admit I told him he didn’t have to “hurry” to sort his dad’s stuff . but, it’s been over 2 months now and there’s still a lot of stuff that he is supposed to take away.  I’ve about had it with his continued attitude that where ever I live is his personal (free) storage locker.

I am not getting my day off to a good start getting angry all over again.  It is what it is, but the sooner I can get away the better .. because the situation here simply is not going to get better.

Yesterday I got yet another shelf on the big “entertainment center” cleared off.  Geez, I thought I had found all the VHS tapes … not!  They were THREE deep!!  And there’s still a shelf to go.  I had to stop, all the dust was making my head and my stomach hurt.  A great many more than I thought were purchased movies, but at least I have someone to give those to along with the VCR.  I also found another pile of what I *think* are CDs, but I’m not sure.  It is SOOO frustrating.  There just HAS to be things I can do without needing help with every stupid little thing!!
DSS and TGF used to come on Sundays.  Now, of course, everything has changed .. except that DSS is still working, which has been his excuse for not coming any other day (except when it suited him to take a day off).  And TGF said she’d try to get him to come over this weekend to get more of the stuff out of the bedroom.  I guess I’ll try to finish sorting the tapes this morning and be done with that (just in case … 3 ½ bags of trash so far and a shelf still to go).  And I don’t want to be doing that if she brings the boys over (though she may well leave them at home to go to the swimming pool.

It’s nearly time for eye drops, and then to get the day started.  I need to keep busy so I quit getting so frustrated and angry!

Day 70

Day 70

Friday, June 6, 2014

This was a much calmer day, mostly.  I can’t think of any particular reason other than maybe I got a build up of emotion out of my system.  I am trying to not be whiny and needy.  But I also can’t expect anyone to be able to read my mind and know when I actually do need something.  I think this might be part of the reason the concept of moving is so appealing …if I’m in a position to do a lot more for myself, then maybe I won’t mind so much asking for help for things I still can’t do on my own.
But right now, I have no clue what will happen, and it’s driving me crazy.  I kow the places I like best would take too much of my income.  I WILL NOT  settle for a crumby apartment in a bad area where I still can’t even walk (or not safely) where I need to go just because it’s “cheap”.  And I WILL NOT be forced into moving to some place that *someone else* (anyone else) has decided is “appropriate” without any regard as to how I feel about it.  It’s just that I’m not going to be pushed around.  I’m already not very hapy at knowing I can’t afford anything but a fairly small place … and will be moving from a very BIG place.  I have to give up a lot of the things that are important to me (and *helpful* people who keep saying “it’s only things” or I “don’t need” this or that are NOT helping).  I dread the concept of giving up a lot of the things I love in order to move into a decent place to live  and then my budget being so tight that I can never again in my life buy a new pair of shoes or new underwear or get my nails done or buy Christmas presents for my grandchildren.    And I know there are also those who consider getting my nails done or giving Christmas gifts as frivolous wastes of money.  But am I seriously expected to have the shoes and underwear I now own last another 20 to 30 years???

Anyway, for now it’s hard to know what to do  There’s still a lot to be purged; but I’m having trouble finding things I don’t need help with.  It is more frustrating than I can even begin to say to not be able to see clearly.  Reading almost anything is out of the question (even as I type this .. I’m using a very large font which will have to be shrunk down for posting, but still have to use a magnifying glass if I need to double check something I’ve written …. And if sometimes something doesn’t make sense, it’s because I don’t realize I either typed the wrong word, misspelled a word, or even got my hands on the wrong keys.  If I don’t realize it, I don’t get the mag to chec!).  So, a lot of stuff yet to be sorted that I just can’t do.
Yesterday I finished dumping all home-taped VHS tapes into trash bags.  I also found about a bag and a half of purchased tapes (don’t know what they are, but can tell the difference because the covers usually have some sort of picture).  I have 2 “machines” … at least one of them is a VCR, maybe both … but at least I have someone who wants that (and has agreed to take the movies too).
And while checking the shelves … I discovered there’s a big pile of what I think are CDs … need help with …. And apparently 2 shelves crammed full of more VHS tapes!!!  That is SO frustrating, I thought I had them all done.  WHY are there so many???  The home-taped ones were NEVER watched.
One bonus to moving to a small apartment … my son and DIL (and probably adult grands) will never get stuck with quite so much stuff to sort!

Yesterday my SIL was going to take me to her house for lunch, but they changed their plans.  Her house guest decided to take them out to Western Sizzler (sure does sound like she’ll do anything to avoid eating that spaghetti again! LOL) .. so they came by to see if I would like to go too.  So, I was treated to a very nice supper.  In the last 11 days, I’ve baked chicken pieces once … and other wise either been taken out, been at someone’s house, or been gifted left overs.  I still have left over chicken … but eventually I’ll have to get back to cooking … or at least what passes for it for me.

I think school is out now.  That means it will now be a major inconvenience for TGF to come all the way out here (she told me a year ago “we can’t be running out here all the time”).  I think she’s going to be able to “claim” her classroom soon, which means she will come get the things I’ve told her she can have for it (an old file cabinet, a bookshelf, and a small rolling table .. and a lot of books that will be good “reference” books and some classics for a middle school classroom).  Other than that, it may be a guessing game when anything will get done … trash removed, grass cut (DSS doesn’t seem inclined to replace the blade he broke).  I can ask my SIL to take me to the grocery store; but she did make a point the other day of telling me she can’t make any kind of “commitment” to come help me with anything on a regular basis.  She is much too busy, has too many responsibilities.  She claims she comes over when she can.  So, I’m very hesitant to ask her … and clearly couldn’t ask her to take care of the cts if I wanted to go anywhere again.  So … basically, I don’t have anyone to take care of them, and I will NOT be doing any more travelling longer than the time I could leave the cats (2 to 3 days at the absolute most, but mostly only day trips).
That’s yet one more thing in favor of moving, but only if I can get the specific area I want.  As long as plans didn’t overlap, I have no doubt my niece is completely trustworthy and could help me … and would love my kittie too.
I know, as I do a lot of mornings, I just sit here and “babble”.  Sometimes I don’t even kow what I’m going to say until I start writing.  And a lot of mornings I don’t seem to have much motivation to go get my day started; so I sit here with my coffee and just ramble.  Occasionally I have something I want to try to say … but I can’t find the right words.  If I use the wrong words or expressions, someone gets offended.  That is very frustrating …. I don’t like feeling like I can’t be free to try to express myself.  But I don’t want to offend anyone.  And, I do make an effort to a degree to stay “neutral”.  Sometimes that just isn’t possible … but ther are times when I talk about something that upsets me in generalities (NO “name calling” or referring to anyone specific) but people get upset anyway.  Guilty conscience???  It is MY blog after all.  I should be able to just say what I’m thinking without anyone assuming I’m criticizing them personally (which the only person I usually am doesn’t even read it!).

I don’t know what I’m going to do today, but I guess I better get the day started and see what happens.

Day 69

Day 69

Thursday, June 5, 2014

Yesterday was an odd mixture of a day.   There were some good parts … my SIL took me to town to go to the bank, go by the funeral home, and get groceries; and later she picked me up to go to her house for supper, and I ended up spending the evening.
In between those, however, parts of my day weren’t so great.  I think a lot of things just built up and caught me off guard.  Lately I’ve been doing pretty good .. I find I easily get “choked up” and weepy at unexpected times, but otherwise I’m pretty well “together”.  But yesterday I just had an all out crying jag.  My SIL’s car has no a/c, and she smokes .. so I got home wilted, hungry, and headachy.   So with a weakened state of mind, I guess the crying spell was just over due.
I had spent a few hours in the morning clearing old VHS tapes off shelves.  That was sad only in that at some point someone thought a program was interesting enough to tape .. but none of them were ever watched, and now no one wants them.  There’s still so much stuff to be sorted; and I can’t just dump all of it in the trash.
My DIL is trying very hard to “make it right”.  She took it upon herself to try to coordinate with others to have someone come be with me (I’m not clear on the timing .. daily or weekly … but maybe only through the summer anyway) and help with all this frustrating sorting.  I’ve been saying all along that everyone either lives too far away and/or is too busy.  DIL asked me to let SIL know she’d be calling; and SIL immediately went into a spiel abut how people can’t just reorganize their lives.  She’s the one who lives only 3 miles down the road, and she says she comes over every chance she gets.  That’s an exaggeration; but she is very busy, very *involved* in her church group and some other activities.  I told her not to worry about it, no one is forcing her to do anything.
But it just gets clearer and clearer that I’d be better off in an apartment in town. But then, my mind keeps going round and round.  Is it worthwhile to move to a place I can barely afford that is so small I’d have to get rid of nearly every piece of furniture that means anything, and still could never even have my grandchildren visit because there’d be no place for them.  I’ll never ever be able to buy a pair of shoes or new underwear, or get my hair or nails done, or buy a new audio book or go to a movie or go to McD.  Is it really worth it?  But I’m in the same condition here other than room, but the house is showing it’s age and I have no way of taking care of the huge yard here.  (DSS broke the blade on my lawnmower, but so far hasn’t been able to afford to replace it.  I think they’re assuming if they wait long enough I’ll do it … with no regard as to whether or not I can afford it.  After all, since TGF knows I have insurance money, she is completely fine with me paying for ALL the gas to go to the OBx and back … DSS would have found the $$ to go get his younger son if he’d had to, but he doesn’t have to.  But still can’t afford to contribute to his own father’s final wishes?).  Yes, I get side tracked.
My DIL  is going to try to find more information; and I’m hoping it will work out for my DSis to take me next week to see her daughter’s apartment.  In the meantime, I need to just keep pushing myself to purge where I can, and find a place to consolidate things I need help with.
It may be stormy today, but I’m not sure.  It sounds like it won’t be as hot as yesterday, but very humid and cloudy .. that’s certainly how it’s starting out.  That does not bode well for me getting stuff done.  *F … and I know right now it’s a big *if* … I do get an apartment, I wonder if I can get it painted light bright colors?  Like yellow, moss green, soft pink …. I really would love to have  color in my life; and I’ve hated all the dark paneling in this house for 13 years!!!  (and the few walls that aren’t paneled are white, except 2 bedrooms .. each has paneled wainscoting under the white walls, one in Williamsburg pink and one in Williamsburg blue.  Yuck.  I want happy walls!  I want a beautiful background for all the many pictures I have.
Despite the weather, I am going to try very hard for this to be a better day.  My SIL said she would come get me and take me to her house for lunch (she has left over spaghetti .. but she has a house guest and could not serve it for supper last night).  I don’t know what I will wor on, but I will find something that I can manage on my own  And I think I will set the table again.  I’m not going anywhere any time soon other than day trips, and I miss having it look pretty.
I’m in the process (some done, some soaking) of cleaning the glass candle holders from the mantle.  Maybe I’ll go on and put out my summer candles, and find the summery pillow covers.  That’s probably a waste of time as everyone throws the pillows on the floor (is that why they’re called “throw” pillows???), but I still like the summery look.

Perhaps if I concentrate on those silly little things I can do I can not be as stressed about so many things I can’t do.  For now, I guess I’ll go get in the shower, and actually get the day started.

Day 68

Day 68

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

It is amazing how quickly I slump back into an unproductive routine!  I did get all the laundry caught up, and put up.  Considering it was way more than I normally have at a time, that was a good accomplishment.  And, I cooked myself some supper (having no choice, no more frozen dinner! LOL!).   But in between, the majority of the day was spent emailing back and forth, and an afternoon doze.  Despite good intentions, I didn’t purge a single drawer or shelf.  Hopefully today I will do better.  I have no idea what time my SIL will take me to the grocery store, but I suspect not until afternoon.
I really want to go through and clean out a lot of areas; but not being able to see clearly Is really making me bonkers.   It occurred to me that I’ve been dumping chang in various banks for years .. and that change could add up, and at least be some help toward moving expenses .. maybe help with gas for trucks if nothing else.  It looks like a lot, but I know it’s never as much as it looks like.  But I know I have at least 2 more banks that I can’t find; and I *think* I still have rolled coins from when I sold chocolate .. just put it aside and I don’t remember ever taking it to the bank.  But now I can’t find things, and I don’t really trust TGF to help.  Mostly because she’d volunteer her boys to “help”, and I REALLY don’t trust them!  It is SO frustrating.  Whatever I’ve found by the 14th I will give to DIL.  Their CU will sort and count with no charge!  (and if the coins do need to be sorted, her kids can be trusted to do it).
I need to just walk away from this project for now since I have over a week.  Erhaps today I will start filling trash bags with VHS tapes.
It just “registered” that it’s a humid cloudy day.  Maybe that’s why I seem to be in a bit of a funky mood.  At least it’s a good excuse!!

Day 67

Day 67

Tuesday, June 3, 2014

On Thursday, after packing up all needed supplies in the camper, my brother, sister-in-law, and I (and their 4 month old Adorable puppy) headed up into the mountains.  We stayed at a very nice National Park.  After getting set up, DB took me riding around … on the Parkway, to several overlooks, and miles and miles on back roads.  We stoppe frequently, and I got to see rhodendron, flame azalea, and mountain laurel all blooming.  We also visited a little store with some clever and nice novelty items and art pieces.
DB cooked hamburgers for supper.
On Friday we rode a bit in the morning.  In the afternoon we sat in lawn chairs and “held” a site for DN(iece) and her DH, because it was located better than the one they had reserved.  Minuts after they got there, DSis and family got here.
The camp sites were very nice, with cement picnic tables and we had lots of room for setting up canopies and a circle of lawn chairs.  On Friday night it was DB’s turn to cook, and we had steaks, baked potatoes, toss salad.
On Saturday, after a Huge breakfast, several of the group took off for a short hike.  It turned out shorter than they thought … 2 elderly dogs tired out!  So they called DB for a “rescue”! LOL!  Otherwise, we spent a lot of time sitting around talking.  I had brought a big box of old pictures for everyone to go through and pull out any they wanted.  Funny, the box is till more than half full!!
One night .. but I don’t remember which (Friday?) .. it poured rain all night.  It cleared by morning, although stayed foggy a long time.  Made for very wet puppy feet!!
Saturday night it was nephew’s turn to cook.  They did ribs on a smoker .. totally yummy!  We also had a camp fire going, and one of nieces made s’mores .. made over a campfire, sticky and gooey, just how they are supposed to be!!
On Sunday morning we again gathered for a big breakfast; and then some took off for another hike.  DB, SIL, and I (and puppy) rode, and we all met at a very old cabin that has been preserved.  A lady inside was spinning wool, and telling the history of the family that livd there, and a lot of information about the way of life in the time period.  It was extraordinarily rustic, at least by our standards!
That afternoon niece and newphew headed home.  Later in the evening the rest of us went to an overlook to watch the sunset.  Unfortunately, clouds moved in too quickly; but the 3 year old and the puppy had a grand time romping in a grassy area.
Monday morning we had one last grand breakfast, and then “broke camp” (note, I keep saying “we” .. but mostly I just sat around and tried to stay out of the way! LOL!).  DS and family left first, and later DB was all packed up nad ready to roll.  Oddly enough, we all got to one McD at nearly the same time!.  We got there first, and SIL called DS .. they were only minutes away, so we had lunch together again.
They ride home was surprisingly short (and no, it couldn’t possibly be becaue I dozed for any of it!).  They got what was needed out, and we all pretty much collapsed!

Tuesday morning I had all my gear packed early, and by mid morning we left to take me home.  We went by DS’s house first, since we had been invited for lunch.  She made a Wonderful asta salad! (and sent me home with some salad for supper and some sliced ham!!).  After leaving DS’s house, DB took me over to the pharmacy to pick up eye drops (had run out!).  Then we came on back home.

Coming home was very much a let down.  It will always be a little bit sad to come home after such a lovely trip.  But to come home to things that weren’t right was very disappointing.  A bag of trash, that TGF was going to take to the dump, was still by the door; but she did get all the piles of old magazines off the table.  I went to take 8 days worth of laundry to the laundry room, only to discover things in both the washer and dryer.  But the worst was that both hall doors were closed .. which meant the cats (Maggie and Butter) could not get to their litter boxes!!!  I found later she had not even been there since Sunday afternoon.  Oh my poor itties.  And, their food bowls were completely empty.
As soon as I walked into the den, I knew there was something unpleasant there.  Sadly, my nose works better than my eyes.  DB and SIL found and removed several “deposits” .. including the kitchen sink!!!  Gross!!!!  (the sink strainer and a few utinsels .. that I did NOT leave there .. were soaked for several hours in hot soapy bleach water!).  Later I scrubbed the utilnels, and the sink.  I put the strainer in a saucepan and boiled it.  I stil think I’m going to just replace it!!!!
Once school is out, TGF won’t even ben coming out this way every day .. so I am relatively sure that if I were to go off again, it would be an even bigger problem getting her to take decent care of anyting.  She, of course, never scoops litter boxes or waters plants.  I’m thinking I won’t take any longer than a weekend for the next few months at least.

One very promising thing has come of the weekend.  I’m now very seriously considering a move.  I’m not going to write about it now (don’t want to jinx myself!) … there are too many variables right now.  But my options are being eplored.  Also, several family members are working on finding out what sorts of services are available for “legally blind” senior citizens.  It would be great if my “first choice” moving option would cut me some slack on rent … but I suspect that’s a bit too much to hope for
I’ll just have to wait and see.  And .. I may have mentioned … I don’t *wait* very well!

Well, laundry is all done and waiting to be put up.  Suitcase is mostly empty.  Many emails have been exchanged this morning. I have started the process of emptying out piggy banks … to see how much is there that can go towards deposits if/when needed.  I’m gong to rest a bit; answer a few more emails; finish with the banks (coins will go into baggies for now, actual counting to be done later), get all the laundry put away, and fill at least one trash bag with VHS tapes that no one wants.  Then I will allow myself to consider the day done.
